Irreversiility, futility, photo-video installation, 2013

In an imaginary return to the original order, the papers, carried by the wind, fly back to their original heap. They return to the same place, but in another time. Sometimes our efforts are futile, for everything returns to its original state. We pile up a heap that gets scattered by the wind. It seems that nothing can change, despite our willingness for it. We merely end a journey, close a circle, spiraling ourselves back to where we had been before. This heap can be understood as coming to terms with futility of our efforts, or with the illusion of reversing the unwanted experiences. The only difference is whether a change is seen in a positive or a negative way. If we were completely indifferent to change, maybe there would not be any change at all. Perhaps change was born from valorization, from the power of will and decision.(Mirjana Vodopija)

Mirjana Vodopija throughout her three decades long artistic activity deals with investigations of nature expressed in different media: from graphics and drawing til photography, video and installation. She is known after specific treatment of light, through tungsten lighting drawings, light objects, ambient and installations.
